I loved the way they tasted
As they rolled off my tongue
While reading aloud a poem
I liked putting words together
And making beautiful paragraphs
That you could smell
And feel the texture of the details
Somewhere underneath the skin
I liked to find beautiful words
Long, complicated ones
And with the most lovely definitions
And ones from other languages
That had no English translation
I liked to dissect them
Because they were so much like people in that
They had roots
And places of origin
And different parts of it that made what it was as a whole
I loved dictionaries
And thick romance novels
And the thin pages of poetry anth
